Greetings!

My name is Toni Torres and I love to sing! It is such a blessing to be able to perform as a vocalist. To me, music is beautiful, diverse, and such a thrill. Music is expressive, daring, and it has helped me establish strong connection with others. However, if no investments were made to my voice, through instruction, I do not know if I could have it made it as far as I have in this beautiful world of music.

Music performance requires discipline in practice, patience, and establishing mind-body connections. One must develop the building blocks of music such as rhythm, melody, intonation, collaboration, character, meanings of a text, music history, and more. Our instrument also requires constant attention so that we may produce sounds efficiently and maintain endurance for the long haul. Each voice can benefit from the establishment of healthy boundaries such as discovering your singing range or singing age-appropriate material.

There are so many knowledge and skills in singing that are essential in maintaining success in music whether choosing to sing recreationally or as your future career. If you would allow me, I would love to be your instructor that will guide you and help you to obtain these skills and more!

Regarding my experience, I graduated May 2022 with my Masters in Music Performance and Pedagogy for voice from Texas State University in San Marcos, TX. I also have obtained a Bachelor of Music in Music Performance, for voice, from the University of Texas at El Paso in 2019. I have performed as a soloist and ensemble member, in various styles such as jazz, salsa, choir (secular and religious), popular music, musical theater, since the fourth grade. I have been classically trained as a performer since 2016. Outside of music, I have several years’ experience working with children, as a volunteer caregiver and as coordinator of fellow volunteers in my local church. As I have trained to become a private teacher, I have taught various age groups, children to adults, and students at various levels (beginner, intermediate, and advanced). I am also bilingual so if you would like to take voice lesson in Spanish, I would be happy to oblige. Along with teaching in Spanish I can also develop lessons for those who would like to sing any styles/genres of Hispanic heritage or classical Spanish repertoire.

I will bring my experience and my love for music together to help you achieve your goals in singing, whatever they may be. I will you guide you and motivate you to sing in ways that are healthy, while still suiting your interests. Ultimately, I hope that you fall further in love with music and music making, just as I have through instruction and investments made. As one of my favorite childhood song states: Sing a Song! Make it simple, to last your whole lifelong. That is the mission of Sparrow Studio: Making Singing Simple for Lifelong Performing! Please consider making Sparrow Studio your home for lessons.

Happy Singing!
